Once you have the unlocked Huawei Idea 3G NetSetter device up and running, you need the network profile settings for your Idea NetSetter to access the internet. Launch Mobile Partner. Go to Tools -> Options -> Profile Management. Click on the New button. Enter anything as the Profile Name. Select‘Static’ for APN and key in the APN key provided to you by the network provider. You can check the APN settings even in your cellphone and use the same here. Access Number will be *99# for most networks. However, it is better too Google a bit if it does not work for you or call the specific customer care. Click on Save and you are done.Advanced Settings need not be changed. Now go to the Connections tab of the software and select the saved profile and click on Connect. You should be able to connect. Also, do remember that the above process remains the same even for the Branded 3G Device Software.

Settings for Reliance (GPRS)
- Access Number: *99#
- APN: rcomnet
Settings for Uninor (GPRS)

Your dashboard upadte could have been the problem. Do it once again and if it does not respond go for another dashboard. Or else your modem has been unlocked by someone else mistakedly or purposefully

you need to set it to WCDMA Only and not preferred. Setting preferred means that if there no or low 3G network available, the modem will switch to 2G automatically. However with WCDMA only, this will not happen even if there is low or no 3G network. It will keep searching for 3G.

If you have a locked idea netsetter and idea sim, you cannot use any other sim and since you are using idea sim, how do you think you will ever be able to connect to Airtel 3G 8-() , you will always connect to Idea 3G only and since you have selected WCDMA Preferred the netsetter will always connect to a network that has more signal strenth, in your case it is the 2G network. Select the mode as WCDMA only and then the netsetter will only connect to idea 3G Network (if you have the 3G coverage in your area).

i am on reliance 3g data plan.i had a vodafone k2540 3g device.i unlocked and unbranded using mobile partner.but i am not able to search for 3g networks.mobile partner on selecting option wcdma only says “failed to apply settings.”nor it scans for any 3g network.i have tried everything using sim on phone gives me a download speed of 300 kbps while on device its just 20 and it catches only 2g network.

Hello I have Idea netsetter 1550 April mfg month I have successfully broken the lock and I am using Tata docomo SIM which If I insert in a cell phone(samsung corby pro B5310) It shows 3G symbol next to the towers but when I use it in Netsetter I have net speed of just (max) 14 kbps.
please help me How can I increase these speed.

If you are not using a 3G plan then the speed automatically gets curtailed to a speed of 128 kbps. Also ensure that your netsetter is picking up the 3G network (WCDMA Only in Profile Settings).

instead of recharging more money i use idea gprs sim in idea netsetter, by recharging 98 rupees mobile internet but problem is , its giving error and disconnecting itself. showing error. so much confused.
Make sure you are using the correct GPRS settings in the profile and select the 3G network instead of the 2G network. This will give you much better speed than GPRS but only @128kbps which 16 kb/sec download speed. You should not be charged extra money but just check before you use 3G more. Open a few websites with the 3G network and check if money gets deducted.

I have idea netsetter (unlock) and DOCOMO card, but after unlock it not show signle(TOwer) but same card is working in my mobile at the same place & time, once I got the tower speed was 236kbps(GPRS)I had search for 3G-WCDMA in network for register(3.6mbps)but can’t got the speed, my basic proble is not getting tower indicator.
Your 3G reception may be week in the area where you are residing. Moreover, if you are getting more towers in your phone then that is because you can move your phone and phones tend to have a better reception than data cards. Also, try moving your laptop or PC in a spot where you can get more reception, may be near the window or somewhere.

You need to check if your area has Idea 3G coverage.
yes, i checked & brought idea person to see the network strength and they found excellent. so, i think there is no problem with network signal. however, i gave the device at idea centre to check the device itself.

If you are in a region where Tata Docomo shares Aircel network( Example – Bihar, West Bengal, UP, etc), you can use 2G plans from Tata D on 3G network at a capped speed of 128 kbps. If you are holding a Aircel sim, then it is difficult to say. Alternatively, you can always use Idea 2G plans on 3G network ar a capped speed of 128kbps in any part of the country.
You can do audio/video chat (tested/verified with Skype) using the 2G plans on 3G network at the capped speed of 128 kbps.

Make sure you are having a 3G plan activated, 2G plans get speed capped at 128 kbps.

You probably do not have access to the 3G network or the TATA DOCOMO 3G network is not available in your area. Try speaking with the customer care.

MIght be a problem with the firware or the supporting software you are using with it on your PC. Driver issues can also be there.

Go to Tools->Options->Network->Registration Mode. Select Manual search and register. Click on Refresh. Select network from list and click Register. Also, I do not think 3G is supported on Aircel using Docomo sim anymore.

Try connecting in 3G mode, if connected, you will get 112 kbps (12-16 KB/sec – u/d) robust speed with your 2G plan, you can then make uninterrupted skype/video calls. But do make sure that there is no deduction from your talktime and data gets deducted from your 2G internet balance.
